Revelstoke Elopement Gallery + Planning Tips

35 mm film photo of bride and groom on the ski slopes during their Revelstoke elopement ceremony surrounded by snowy trees

Revelstoke is one of the most stunning mountain towns in BC, nestled along the Columbia River and surrounded by mountains. The skiing is world class at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, as well as the incredible backcountry skiing nearby in Roger's Pass, and with the sledding and nordic ski trails you've got one incredible winter destination!

These two sweet peas knew they wanted to elope on a mountain in the snow, and what better place to come than Revelstoke? They got ready in a sweet private cedar cabin at Glacier House Resort, before heading to Revelsotke Mountain Resort on Mount Mackenzie. We rode the gondola up the mountain and found the perfect spot for their ceremony on the slopes with views over the surrounding mountains, and a sun beam opened up the clouds while they read their vows, laughing and crying. Then we headed back to their cabin for snowshoeing, cake, and a bottle of the groom's late mother's cider. What a sweet sweet day to celebrate this lovely coup2sq1le!

3. The Logistics: Marriage License + Park Permit

The boring part - logistics. It's okay though, I'm here to help guide you through as smoothly as possible so you can get back to the more fun adventure prep! There are 2 main steps to follow (and a bonus step for the parks):

Book Your Marriage Commissioner

This is the person who performs the ceremony for you on your elopement day, and they need to be booked in advance. As your Revelstoke elopement photographer + planner, I can help you find the perfect officiant who gets your vibe and will follow you to the top of a mountain!

Obtain Your Marriage License

The good news: obtaining a marriage license in BC is super easy for folks travelling here to get married! I costs $100, and once you obtain the license, you have 90 days (three months) to have your ceremony.

Only one of you will need to apply in-person (bringing ID for both of you) to a registry agent - the one in Revelstoke is at Service BC on Second Street. Simply bring the license to your ceremony and give it directly to your officiant!

**OBTAIN A PARK PERMIT if needed

If you want to elope in Mount Revelstoke National Park (Meadows in the Sky Parkway, Eva Lake, etc) or Roger's Pass aka Glacier National Park (Hermit Meadows, Mount Sir Donald, etc) you will need to obtain a park permit. More info can be found here - and I'll be there to help you through the process! Most other places around Revelstoke don't need a permit.
